The project

The Cayman Spirits Company needed a web presence to tell the unique story behind their distillation and aging process. Working closely with Creative Director Brandon Cyr, we harnessed the new features of CSS3 and HTML5 to create the most creative and “immersive” web experience possible… pun very much intended. This is by far the most aquatic web experience we’ve made and hope you enjoy.

Going Under Water

The feeling of going under water was accomplished by attaching the frame rate of the water sequence to the user's scroll position. After trying several ways of best accomplishing this we landed on using the HTML5 canvas. You can see an isolated proof of concept here.

Google Calendar Integration

An important feature was creating a dynamic tour and event scheduling system that synced up with the Google Calendar the client has used previously to manage them. The system we built allows visitors to register for the events seamlessly within the site's environment, but allows the client to dynamically manage registration and availability through their Google Calendar. On the backend, the ability to track tour and event signups, and to cap the number of people allowed to sign up for a single event, has been built in.
